National Prayer for the Middle East, organised by the Uniting Church in Australia Assembly
Last night (Mon, 10 March), the Uniting Church in Australia gathered people from across the country for a National Online Service of Prayer for Peace in the Middle East, led by President Rev Charissa Suli. More than 140 people joined the service, including members of our church, ecumenical friends from Catholic and Anglican communities, and people of different faiths. Together we prayed for peace, compassion and wisdom in the face of escalating conflict. The service began with an acknowledgement of First Nations peoples and an opening prayer from Rev Ken Sumner of the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress. Scripture from Psalm 46 reminded us that “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble”.

A solemn fir tree-planting ceremony was held on September 25, 2025, at the courtyard of the Armenian Missionary Association of America’s (AMAA) Yerevan Headquarters on Baghramyan Ave. 18 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the passing of Rev. Dr. Movses B. Janbazian, a deeply respected spiritual leader and visionary who served as AMAA Executive Director from 1987 to 2000. The ceremony marked a moment of reflection on Rev. Janbazian’s life, ministry, and lasting legacy, honoring his profound contribution to the spiritual, national, and humanitarian life of Armenian communities in Armenia and the Diaspora.
Armenian Evangelical World Council Convenes in Glendale, CA, USA
The Armenian Evangelical World Council held its regular meeting from October 16 to 17 in Glendale, California, bringing together representatives from the five Armenian Evangelical Unions around the world, alongside the Armenian Missionary Association of America and the Stephen Philibosian Foundation. The President of AEWC, Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian opened the meeting with a word of prayer and a biblical meditation. The Council welcomed Serge D. Buchakjian as the new CEO/Executive Director of AMAA and paid special tribute to AEWC’s Executive Director, Rev. Dr. Vahan Tootikian, for his invaluable services for more than 22 years.
